Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born to a musical family on August 9th, 1963 in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel superstar Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. as well as a cousin of the singing sensation Dionne Warwick.
